  • Frank Lavin

    Frank Lavin


    Frank Lavin, Founder of Export Now, has devoted his government and private sector careers to helping companies succeed in new markets, with an emphasis on China. In government, Frank served as Ambassador to Singapore and Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade. In the latter role, he was lead trade negotiator for both China and India and was the senior policy official, responsible for commercial policy, export promotion and trade negotiations.

    In the private sector, Frank was most recently an Asia practice leader at Edelman, and prior to that, he worked in senior finance and management positions in Hong Kong and Singapore with Bank of America and Citibank. Frank also served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the USA Pavilion at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. Frank is the co-author of “Export Now” (Wiley).

    Frank earned a B.S. from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University; an M.S. in Chinese Language from Georgetown University; an M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University; and an M.B.A. in Finance at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • Ozan Gursel

    Ozan Gursel


    Ozan Gursel was previously a partner with McKinsey & Company focused on the TMT and consumer/retail sectors, where he helped his clients with high return strategic and operational improvements. At McKinsey he held a number of practice and service line leadership roles, including helping to build one of its fastest growth service lines. Before that, Ozan had line responsibility at a mid-sized IT and e-commerce services provider where he focused on the consumer/retail vertical. Prior to that role, he helped develop ERP and supply chain solutions for a range of companies at Accenture.

    In his role at Export Now, he is responsible for strengthening the operational and technology capabilities of the company, providing global oversight of operations, acting as the company’s senior troubleshooter on operational issues and ensuring alignment behind strategic priorities.

    Ozan earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Rice University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

    Ron Wardle

    China General Manager

    Ron Wardle has spent 20+ years working and living within the Greater China region, assisting foreign companies designing and implementing market entry, digital and international growth strategies. His background includes e-commerce, digital branding, marketing and business development. Ron has held marketing and management positions at Hewlett-Packard and executive positions at several international consumer, online and digital marketing companies. Additionally, he was an early pioneer in China’s digital transformation whereas he founded and managed one of Shanghai’s premeir boutique digital agencies.

    Currently, as CEO China of Export Now – the leading e-commerce service provider of foreign brands in China, Ron manages the implementation and execution of their clients China brand building, sales and marketing strategies. Furthermore, he overseas all operational aspects including customer service, HR, import/compliance, warehousing and order fulfillment.

    An Idaho native, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

  • Philip Channon

    Philip Channon

    Group CFO

    Philip Channon has been based in Hong Kong for more than 25 years, managing and growing businesses across the Asia region. Prior to his current role, Philip was CFO at Edelman, where he had financial oversight of 24 offices in 13 countries across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. During his tenure he led numerous acquisitions, notably in China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam. Before that he held audit and corporate advisory roles with Grant Thornton, and financial directorships with the McManus advertising group and with garment manufacturer and exporter Epic Designers.

    In his current role as Group CFO of Export Now, Philip has oversight for the development and management of the finance function of the company, and supports management in the growth of the group.

    Philip is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, earned his BA in Accounting and Finance from Kingston University, and his LLB from the University of London.

    John Hoover

    General Counsel

    John Hoover is a native of Northeast Ohio with many years of experience working on international business matters. He spent 8 years with The Timken Company, a leading global manufacturer of engineered bearings and alloy steels. As Managing Director of Timken Australia for 3 years, John oversaw the import and distribution of steel and roller bearings as well as the export of bearings manufactured at Timken’s plant. John has also worked extensively in Japan and Asia to support global supply initiatives, including the qualification of new steel and forging suppliers.

    John practiced law in Washington, D.C. with the international law firms Jones Day and Hogan & Hartson. Recently, John has been involved with several start-ups as both an investor and consultant in Northeast Ohio.

    As General Counsel at Export Now, John is responsible for all legal matters of the firm and works closely with clients on matters from export compliance to transaction structuring to tax questions.

    John earned a B.A. from Williams College, a J.D. from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
